Year 11

At Goolwa Secondary College, students engage in Stage 1 subjects throughout Year 11 in preparation for Year 12. During Year 11, there are several compulsory subjects including English, Maths and AIF. For these compulsory subjects, a minimum ‘C’ grade needs to be achieved to obtain their SACE completion certificate.

Students must complete a full-year of English (20-credits) 1-Semester of Math (10-credits) and their AIF – Activating Identity. Students will also be able to select from a range of SACE Elective classes. Students are encouraged to select subjects at Year 11 that they would like to continue into Year 12. In Year 11, students can select a maximum of 8 elective classes which will then be narrowed down to 4 elective classes in Year 12.

At Year 11, student schooling can become more individualised. Students may engage in a variety of post-school pathway activities including Vocational Education, University Assessment programs as well as school-based apprenticeships. All these options are supported by the school through individual conversations with families and students. Students are continually encouraged and supported to identify their SACE post-school options in Year 11 which include the following:

  • University and Further Education: Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR)
  • Recognised University Pathway Admission: Flinders University
  • Vocational Education Pathway: ATAR or Trade Training Pathway
  • SACE Completion: Non-ATAR
