Subject Overview
Ngarrindjeri Language in Year 9 expands students’ understanding of the language, culture, and history of the Ngarrindjeri Nation. This course deepens students’ language skills and cultural knowledge through authentic texts, collaboration with community, and investigation of contemporary and historical events relevant to the Ngarrindjeri people. Students engage with themes of identity, belonging, and responsibility, and develop their communication skills through reading, writing, speaking, and listening in Ngarrindjeri. Learning continues to emphasise respect for cultural protocols, intercultural understanding, and the ongoing significance of language for identity and community wellbeing.

There is a subject fee of $40.00 to cover some of the costs required for excursions within the local area.

Students are encouraged to select Year 9 Ngarrindjeri if they would like to study Year 10 Aboriginal Studies.
