Year 8 Languages
Year 8 Ngarrindjeri
Subject Overview
In Year 8, students continue their Ngarrindjeri language journey by building on the foundational skills and knowledge acquired in Year 7. The program further develops students’ abilities in speaking, listening, reading, and writing Ngarrindjeri, while enhancing their understanding of the cultural heritage and worldview of the Ngarrindjeri people, the Traditional Owners of the Lower Murray, Coorong, and Lakes Region. Students engage in culturally relevant activities and narratives that promote effective communication in Ngarrindjeri and encourage reflection on the connections between language, identity, and community. The course lays a strong foundation for future studies in Aboriginal Languages and Cultures, fostering respect, cultural understanding, and competency within our diverse society.
