Stage 2 Society and Culture

Year 12 Society and Culture

Subject Overview

In this subject, students explore and analyse the interactions of peoples, societies, cultures, and environments. The focus for this course is to study the different ways in which societies and cultural groups interact and how social, political, and environmental change occurs.

Through the study of Society and Culture, students develop the ability to influence their own future by acquiring skills, values, and understanding that enable them to participate effectively in contemporary society.

Students will learn to challenge their own thinking and develop skills in presenting opinions supported by evidence. They will develop their skills in collaborative and independent thinking and inquiry by investigating the causes and consequences of a broad range of social issues.
