Course Description
The Year 10 Elective Physical Education course is designed for students who enjoy being active and want to learn more about sport, fitness, and human performance. Through a combination of practical and theory lessons, students will explore how the body works during exercise, how athletes improve performance, and the factors that contribute to success in sport and physical activity.
This course provides students with an opportunity to participate in a variety of physical activities while developing their understanding of training, fitness, movement, and performance analysis. The course is designed to support students who are considering Stage 1 and Stage 2 Physical Education.
Topics may include:
· Energy Systems and Sources
· Fitness Components
· Training Principles and Training Methods
· Movement Concepts and Strategies
· Skill Acquisition
· Biomechanics
· Variety of practical units such as volleyball and badminton.
Assessment:
Students will complete a variety of practical and theory-based assessment tasks. Assessment may include:
· Creation of a fitness program designed to improve a specific component of fitness.
· Practical performance assessment.
· Analysis of gameplay and movement strategies in chosen sport.
· Investigation of skill acquisition and biomechanics concepts.
· Reflection and evaluation of performance improvement.

There is a subject fee of $30.00 to cover costs.
