Subject Overview
This course is for students who want to grow their skills and confidence in music. Students learn by listening, rehearsing, performing, composing, and writing about music. They will perform on their chosen instrument, both on their own and in groups, and build their skills through regular practice and lessons.
Students develop listening and theory skills to help them understand how music works. They use these skills to analyse music and create their own pieces using notation and music technology.
Where possible, students take weekly instrumental lessons at school (often free for some instruments) or arrange their own lessons outside of school.
Topics may include:
- Performance: Play solo and in ensembles
- Musicianship: Build listening and theory skills
- Composition: Write and record original music
- Responding to Music: Analyse and discuss music

Cost:
There is a subject fee of $20.00 to cover some consumables required during practical classes.
Additional Information:
Music Experience will be a Year 9 and 10 combined class. Students can select Music Experience in both Year 9 and 10 or as a once off elective subject. For students wanting to continue Music into Year 11 and 12, it is recommended to select Music Experience in both Year 9 and Year 10.
