Year 10 Ecotourism

Subject Overview

Eco-tourism as a subject explores the practice of responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment, sustains the well-being of the local people, and their connection to the environment.

Students might choose to study eco-tourism to gain insights into sustainable travel, environmental conservation, and cultural preservation.  

Topics may include:

• Understanding the tourism industry
• Creating sustainable tourism
• Human activity and environments

Assessment

Students will engage in the following three themes completing an accompanying summative task.  

• Understanding the tourism industry
• Interconnections between people, place and environment 
• Case Study- Tourism in a natural environment 

Cost

This subject incurs a fee of approximately $50.00 to cover bus travel and a day excursion.
